Liberia Football Association new corps of leaders

MONROVIA – The Liberia Football Association has elected a new leadership team to steer the affairs of Liberian football over the next four years following the successful holding of its 30th Ordinary Congress on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Association’s headquarters in Congo Town.

Incumbent President Mustapha I. Raji was re-elected unopposed, securing a third and final four-year term at the helm of Liberia’s football governing body.

The Congress also elected a 12-member Executive Committee that will be responsible for advancing football governance, infrastructure development, transparency, grassroots growth, and overall transformation of the sport during the 2026–2030 cycle.

Speaking shortly after his re-election, President Raji expressed appreciation to delegates for the confidence reposed in his leadership while also thanking both FIFA and Confederation of African Football for their continued support toward football development in Liberia.

“We have a lot to do and there are many opportunities at the Liberia Football Association for all of us,” Raji stated. “The success of our football depends on each and every one of us.”

Returning and New Executive Committee Members

Women’s football representative Jodie Seaton retained her seat on the Executive Committee alongside several returning members, including Pawala Janyan, Tickly Monkoney, Hilary Sackie, Sekou Konneh, Adolphus Dolo, and Anthony Deinuka.

Newly elected members joining the Executive Committee include Amos Tweh, Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus, Christian G. Weah, Elvis Sirleaf, and Pokah Robert.

The elections usher in a blend of continuity and fresh leadership as the LFA seeks to build on ongoing football reforms and expand development initiatives nationwide.

International Football Officials Attend Congress

The Congress attracted several distinguished international football figures and stakeholders from across the continent and beyond.

Among the high-profile guests were Hamidou Djibrilla, FIFA Team Lead for MA Governance Services Ahmed Harraz, CAF representative Nadim Magdy Maurice Kamel, as well as former football legends and regional football stakeholders.

Observers say the presence of senior FIFA and CAF officials reflects growing international confidence in Liberia’s football administration and governance structures under the current leadership.

Historic Milestone for Liberian Football

The 30th Ordinary Congress also marked a historic moment for the Liberia Football Association as it became the first election ever conducted at the Association’s own headquarters in Congo Town.

The development was widely viewed as a significant institutional achievement for the LFA, which in recent years has invested heavily in infrastructure development and modernization efforts.

Football stakeholders attending the Congress described the occasion as another important step in strengthening football governance and institutional independence in Liberia.

With a newly elected leadership team now in place, attention is expected to shift toward the implementation of football development programs, league improvement, women’s football expansion, youth development, infrastructure growth, and Liberia’s competitiveness on the continental stage.
