–Strategic Partnership Targets Lower Travel Costs, Easier Connectivity for Liberians; ECTA/RwandAir to Sponsor Community Activities and All Liberian Festival
KIGALI/MONROVIA — The Liberian Community in Rwanda (LIBCOR) has entered into a strategic partnership with Easy Continental Travel Agency (ECTA), a strategic partner of RwandAir, in an initiative aimed at improving travel connectivity between Rwanda and Liberia and creating greater opportunities for Liberians living, studying and doing business in Rwanda.
Under the partnership, ECTA will work toward facilitating the establishment of direct flights between Kigali and Liberia through RwandAir, a move the partners say could significantly reduce travel time and the overall cost of traveling between the two countries.
The partnership, announced by LIBCOR on August 8, 2026, is expected to benefit a broad range of travelers, including students, parents, businesspeople and members of the Liberian diaspora.
According to LIBCOR, ECTA is currently undertaking a mission focused on making direct air connectivity between Rwanda and Liberia possible. If realized, the initiative could provide a more convenient travel option for Liberians who currently face longer journeys and additional costs when traveling between the two countries.
LIBCOR to Promote ECTA/RwandAir Services
As part of the agreement, LIBCOR will serve as an ambassador and strategic partner for ECTA/RwandAir within the Liberian community in Rwanda.
LIBCOR said it will promote ECTA/RwandAir’s services and organize chapter tours designed to encourage Liberians and other travelers in Rwanda and elsewhere to utilize the airline and travel agency’s services.
The partnership is expected to remain in effect until the inauguration of LIBCOR’s fourth National Advisory Council (NAC) in 2027, when the incoming administration will review and determine whether to renew the arrangement.
The collaboration also extends beyond transportation, with ECTA expected to support activities organized for Liberian students and the wider Liberian community in Rwanda.
Partnership Begins With All Liberian Festival
The partnership will formally get underway with ECTA/RwandAir’s support for the upcoming All Liberian Festival, scheduled for August 23, 2026, at the University of Kigali (ULK) in Rwanda.
The festival will be held under the theme “United by Heritage, Driven by Purpose.”
The day’s activities will include a parade from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by registration at noon.
ECTA/RwandAir has committed to sponsoring LIBCOR’s initiatives and fully supporting the chapter tour associated with the partnership. The company has also contributed US$200 toward the festival’s budget, according to the LIBCOR release.
Because of the lack of an accessible mechanism to receive the funds directly, LIBCOR said it engaged the services of a money-transfer agent, with community member Jefferson M. Flomo facilitating the transfer.
Aiming to Connect Liberia and Rwanda
The partnership comes as Liberian students, professionals, entrepreneurs and other members of the diaspora continue to navigate the challenges associated with travel between Liberia and Rwanda.
LIBCOR said the proposed air-connectivity initiative is intended to make travel between the two countries more seamless and affordable while strengthening people-to-people, educational, commercial and community ties.
If direct flight connectivity is successfully established, it could also create opportunities for increased movement of businesspeople, investors, students and tourists between the two countries.
For ECTA, the partnership provides an opportunity to expand awareness of its travel services among Liberians in Rwanda and position itself as a key facilitator of travel between the two countries.
Beyond Travel: Building Community Partnerships
The agreement also gives the partnership a broader community-development dimension.
ECTA has committed to supporting activities organized in the interest of Liberian students and the broader Liberian community in Rwanda, creating a platform for collaboration beyond commercial travel services.
LIBCOR said the partnership represents an important step toward strengthening relationships between the Liberian diaspora, businesses and service providers while creating practical opportunities that could benefit Liberians living and traveling in Rwanda.
As preparations continue for the August 23 All Liberian Festival, the partnership’s first major public activity, attention is expected to focus on whether the longer-term objective of establishing direct Kigali-Liberia air connectivity can be achieved.
