–Clergyman Calls on Young People to Embrace Education, Faith, and Good Character During School’s Sixth Anniversary Celebration
GRAND KRU COUNTY, Liberia – The Resident Pastor of Rivial Fire Pentecostal Ministry in Buah Geeken, Grand Kru County, Pastor Aloysius Siryeh, has urged students across Liberia—particularly those attending the Daniel Weah Grekan Foundation School System—to remain respectful, obedient, and committed to their education as they strive to achieve their dreams and become productive citizens.
Pastor Siryeh made the call on Monday, June 8, 2026, during the Sixth Gala Anniversary Thanksgiving Service of the Daniel Weah Grekan Foundation School System, held at the Rivial Fire Pentecostal Ministry in Buah Geeken.
Addressing students, parents, teachers, and community members, the clergyman expressed concern over what he described as growing indiscipline among some young people, warning that negative behavior could discourage individuals and organizations willing to invest in their education and future development.
“As a student, your behavior should represent both you and your family. Avoid actions that will bring disgrace to yourself and those who are investing in your future,” Pastor Siryeh admonished.
He encouraged students to remain patient and focused, emphasizing that success is achieved through hard work, discipline, and perseverance rather than shortcuts or impulsive decisions.
According to him, young people who remain committed to their goals and conduct themselves responsibly are more likely to benefit from opportunities that can transform their lives.
‘Think Beyond Grand Kru’
Pastor Siryeh challenged students of the Daniel Weah Grekan Foundation School System to see themselves as future leaders capable of making meaningful contributions not only to Grand Kru County but to Liberia as a whole.
He urged them to dream big, pursue excellence, and prepare themselves to become professionals, innovators, and leaders who can help drive national development.
The pastor also reminded the students that every individual is uniquely endowed with gifts and talents from God and should strive to use those gifts to positively impact society.
“We should never underestimate our potential. God has placed something special in each of us, and it is our responsibility to use those gifts to serve humanity and make our communities better,” he said.
Call for Community Service and Giving Back
Reflecting on the progress taking place in Buah Geeken and surrounding communities, Pastor Siryeh called on successful sons and daughters of Grand Kru County to remember their roots and contribute to the development of their communities.
He emphasized that genuine development requires collective effort and should not be viewed solely through a political lens.
“Everything should not be about politics. We must remember where we come from and help improve the lives of others whenever God blesses us,” he said.
The clergyman recounted his own educational journey, describing the hardships and challenges he encountered while pursuing his studies. He said the support and generosity of others played a crucial role in helping him overcome those obstacles and achieve his goals.
He encouraged students to demonstrate compassion, faith, courage, and a willingness to help one another, noting that true success is measured not only by personal achievement but also by the positive impact one has on others.
School Founder Reflects on Humble Beginnings
Speaking during the celebration, the Proprietor of the Daniel Weah Grekan Foundation School System, Mr. Daniel W. Grekan Jr., revealed that the institution was born out of a vision he received in 2019.
According to him, the idea initially began as a small study group after he shared the vision with a few trusted individuals who encouraged him to take the first steps toward establishing a formal educational institution.
“I shared the dream with a few people who encouraged me to start the school as a study class before officially registering it with the Ministry of Education,” Mr. Grekan explained.
He noted that the school has since experienced significant growth and currently operates at the junior high school level, with plans already underway to expand into a full senior high school institution.
Mr. Grekan expressed gratitude to education authorities in Grand Kru County, including the District Education Officer of the Buah Education District and the County Education Officer, for their support and collaboration.
Despite the many challenges facing educational development in the county, he reaffirmed his commitment to providing quality education and helping prepare the next generation of Liberian leaders.
Weeklong Celebration Underway
The school’s Sixth Gala Anniversary celebration is being observed through a series of educational, cultural, and recreational activities designed to promote learning, creativity, and community engagement.
Activities include a Thanksgiving Service, African Cultural Day, sporting competitions, talent exhibitions, academic programs, and other events aimed at celebrating the institution’s achievements over the past six years.
Organizers say the anniversary serves not only as a celebration of the school’s progress but also as an opportunity to inspire students to pursue excellence and remain committed to their education despite the challenges they may face.
As the institution looks toward future expansion, community leaders and educators expressed optimism that the Daniel Weah Grekan Foundation School System will continue to play a vital role in improving educational opportunities for young people in Grand Kru County.
