–Lofa County Lawmaker Accepts Findings, Promises Expanded Media Outreach
MONROVIA, Liberia – Representative Augustine B. Chiewolo of Lofa County Electoral District #5 has welcomed the findings of a recent monitoring report by Naymote Partners for Democratic Development, describing the assessment as an important tool for strengthening democratic accountability and citizen engagement.
In a statement issued by his office, Rep. Chiewolo acknowledged the findings of Naymote’s 2026 Legislative Constituency Break Monitoring Report, which evaluated lawmakers’ interactions with constituents across Liberia during the constituency break period from March 19 to May 8, 2026.
The report assessed legislators from all 69 electoral districts based on four key indicators, including constituency visits, town hall meetings, radio appearances, and the presentation of formal reports to constituents.
According to the statement, the report recognized Rep. Chiewolo’s performance in several critical areas of democratic accountability, including regular visits to communities within his district, the organization of town hall meetings, and the submission of formal reports to constituents.
The lawmaker’s office said the findings validate his longstanding commitment to maintaining close ties with residents of Zorzor and Salayea districts through direct consultations, community engagements, and people-centered leadership.
“The report recognized Representative Chiewolo’s continued efforts to remain directly connected with the people of Zorzor and Salayea through face-to-face engagements, consultations, and community-centered leadership,” the statement noted.

Clarification on Media Engagement
While welcoming the report, the Office of Rep. Chiewolo also sought to clarify one area in which the lawmaker received a lower assessment.
According to the statement, Naymote’s report assigned a lower rating in the category of radio appearances. However, the lawmaker’s office contends that Rep. Chiewolo participated in several radio programs and community media discussions during the review period.
The office suggested that some of those appearances may not have been fully captured within the report’s monitoring framework or documentation process.
Despite the clarification, Rep. Chiewolo said he accepts the report’s findings in good faith and considers them constructive feedback.

Commitment to Improvement
The Lofa County lawmaker pledged to strengthen communication with constituents by increasing his participation in radio and other media platforms.
His office noted that greater emphasis will be placed on media engagement, particularly to reach citizens living in remote communities who depend heavily on local radio stations for information and public discourse.
The statement stressed that effective representation requires not only legislative advocacy at the Capitol but also regular communication with the people who elected public officials.

Praise for NAYMOTE
Rep. Chiewolo also commended Naymote Partners for Democratic Development for undertaking what his office described as one of Liberia’s most comprehensive assessments of legislative constituency engagement.
According to the statement, initiatives such as the monitoring report contribute significantly to strengthening democracy, promoting transparency, and fostering accountability among elected officials.
Naymote’s report, released this week, has generated public discussion about the performance of lawmakers during the constituency break, with some legislators receiving high marks for citizen engagement while others were criticized for limited or no documented interaction with constituents.

Reaffirms Development Agenda
The lawmaker used the occasion to reassure residents of District #5 that he remains committed to advancing their interests at the national level.
His office emphasized that he will continue to focus on legislation, development advocacy, and sustained engagement with constituents as part of his mandate as their representative.
“Representative Chiewolo remains unwaveringly committed to advancing the interests of the people of District #5 through effective legislation, advocacy for development, and continuous engagement with constituents,” the statement said.
The lawmaker further reaffirmed his commitment to transparent leadership, responsive governance, and the pursuit of development opportunities for the people of Lofa County and Liberia as a whole.
