Bill Twehway and Momo Cyrus

MONROVIA – Bill T. Twehway, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth and Sports, has formally endorsed Momo Tarnuekollie Cyrus for a position on the Executive Committee of the Liberia Football Association ahead of the association’s upcoming Elective Congress.

In an official communication addressed to delegates and stakeholders of the Liberia Football Association on May 11, 2026, Senator Twehway described Senator Cyrus as a disciplined, capable, and visionary leader with the experience necessary to contribute meaningfully to the governance and advancement of Liberian football.

Senator Twehway, who also serves as Chairman of the Rivercess Legislative Caucus, said his endorsement is rooted in years of working closely with Senator Cyrus through legislative oversight activities and youth and sports engagements within the Liberian Senate.

According to him, Senator Cyrus has consistently demonstrated professionalism, sound administrative judgment, and a strong understanding of governance and policy development — qualities he believes are essential for credible sports administration.

The Senate Youth and Sports Committee Chairman further noted that Senator Cyrus, in his role as Co-Chair of the Senate Committee on Youth and Sports, has played a constructive and resourceful role in supporting legislative initiatives aimed at strengthening Liberia’s youth and sports sector.

He praised Senator Cyrus for his active participation in committee engagements, stakeholder coordination, and policy discussions, describing his leadership approach as mature, strategic, and institution-focused.

Senator Twehway also highlighted Senator Cyrus’ ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders while maintaining a strong commitment to accountability and institutional progress.

According to him, those qualities are especially important at a time when Liberian football requires competent and forward-looking leadership capable of advancing reforms and strengthening governance credibility within the sport.

The endorsement further stated that Senator Cyrus’ experience in public leadership, legislative engagement, and strategic coordination would significantly benefit the Liberia Football Association if elected to its Executive Committee.

“I therefore offer my full recommendation and confidence in Senator Cyrus’ suitability for this responsibility and respectfully encourage your favorable consideration of his candidacy,” Senator Twehway stated.

The Liberia Football Association’s upcoming Elective Congress is expected to bring together football stakeholders from across the country to elect members of the association’s leadership structure.
