MARGIBI COUNTY – Fresh off its remarkable triumph in the 2026 Margibi County Women’s Lower League, Hippo FC Academy has dedicated its championship success to the individuals and institutions whose unwavering support helped make the achievement possible.

In a gesture of gratitude and appreciation, the newly crowned champions presented their trophy to key supporters who stood by the club throughout its title-winning campaign.

Among those recognized were Hon. William K. Mulbah, Mr. Alpha Jalo of Firestone Liberia, Dr. Joe Isaac of Margibi University, and Dr. Marchiel Speare of Ecumenical Church High School, all of whom played important roles in supporting the team’s development and success during the season.

The club described the championship as a collective achievement made possible through teamwork, sacrifice, and the commitment of supporters who believed in the vision of advancing women’s football in Margibi County.

A Season to Remember

Hippo FC’s historic title run was powered by the dedication and leadership of General Manager Famatta Eunice Thomas and Austin Wesseh, whose efforts behind the scenes helped guide the team to league glory.

On the pitch, captain Jennebah Koomson emerged as one of the league’s standout performers. Her exceptional season earned her the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, the Golden Boot, and a call-up to Liberia’s Under-17 Women’s National Team, further cementing her status as one of the country’s most promising young talents.

The team’s defensive strength was anchored by Rosetta Isatu Gaye, who was recognized as the league’s Best Defender, while Voteline Uteway earned the Best Goalkeeper Award for her outstanding performances between the posts.

Building the Future of Women’s Football

Club officials said the championship represents more than just a trophy—it symbolizes the progress being made in developing young female footballers and expanding opportunities for women in sports.

“To every supporter who has worked and continues to work for Hippo FC, this championship belongs to you,” the club stated.

With its roots firmly planted at Margibi University, formerly known as Harbel College, Hippo FC remains committed to nurturing the next generation of Liberian women footballers through structured training, education, and mentorship.

Eyes on Back-to-Back Glory

Having captured the 2026 Margibi County Women’s Lower League title, Hippo FC is already looking ahead to the future.

Club officials say preparations will soon begin for the new season as the team seeks to defend its crown and build on the momentum generated by this year’s success.

For Hippo FC, the journey continues—but the message remains clear: champions may lift trophies, but they never rise alone.
