Former Liberia U-20 defender Boakai Molue has embarked on a new chapter in life after football by joining the United States Army following years of active football both in Liberia and abroad.
Molue, who previously played for Ganta Black Star and NPA Anchors, was widely regarded as one of Liberia’s promising defenders during his playing career.
Known for his disciplined style of play and defensive strength, the former U-20 international earned recognition for his performances at both club and youth national team levels before eventually relocating to the United States.
Now transitioning from football into military service, Molue has begun basic military training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, one of the United States Army’s primary training installations.
Sharing emotional moments from Family Day activities at the military base, Molue reflected on the challenges of military training and the support he continues to receive from family and loved ones throughout the process.
“Family Day at Fort Jackson SC… These past weeks of basic training haven’t been easy, but watching you stay strong and keep pushing forward makes my heart so full,” Molue wrote in a social media post.
“I admire your determination and everything you’re giving up to reach this goal. We’re so proud of you and all the sacrifices you’re making… you’re truly amazing… we love you more. Two nations 🇱🇷 & 🇺🇸 same person,” he added.
The post has since drawn congratulatory messages from friends, former teammates, and members of Liberia’s football community, many of whom praised Molue for embracing a new path of discipline and public service.
His transition from football to military service also reflects the broader journeys of several former Liberian athletes who have pursued careers outside sports after relocating abroad.
For many supporters, Molue’s latest milestone symbolizes resilience, personal growth, and the pursuit of new opportunities beyond the football pitch while continuing to proudly represent both Liberia and the United States.
